Volunteers Needed to Cope with Invaders

Scientists at the Hatfield Marine Science Center need volunteer help with organisms from the famous floating dock that landed at Agate Beach in Newport, having been sucked out to sea by the tsunami and carried across the ocean, freighted with non-native species. "There is an assortment of interesting organisms that came ashore with the Japanese floating dock. John Chapman (an invasive species expert) and I could use some help sorting through organisms that we collected from the dock,” says Jessica Miller, an assistant professor of Marine and Anadromous Fisheries Ecology at the HMSC.
