Coastal Law Project Offers Consultation on South Coast
Attorney Courtney Johnson of the Coastal Law Project.
Oregon Shores members and CoastWatchers on the south coast who would like to express concerns about local land use issues, seek information about how to get involved effectively, or simply ask questions about the land use process, will have a couple of opportunities this week to meet with Courtney Johnson, the attorney who works with Oregon Shores through our Coastal Law Project. If you would like to discuss anything from development proposals to dredging and filling to riprap permits, here’s your chance.
Courtney will be in Coos County Sept. 5-6 for meetings that deal with Oregon Shores’ work in opposing an LNG export facility proposed for the North Spit of Coos Bay. We are taking this opportunity to make her available to members and other concerned citizens seeking land use advice, or wishing to bring issues to Oregon Shores' attention. We've set up a meeting for 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Charleston-area home of board member Al Solomon, at which she will provide information about the issues we're working on and answer questions on any land use topic. She also has open periods in her schedule on Thursday, and we’re inviting members and any other interested local citizens to seize the opportunity to meet with her to consult on any issue that concerns them. This is short notice, but the LNG-related meetings that are bringing her to the area just came up.
Contact us if you would be interested in meeting with her (see contact info below). If we hear from only one or two people about Thursday, she could meet individually, in Coos Bay/North Bend or Bandon. If we hear from a number, we’ll arrange a group session. While priority will go to members and CoastWatchers, we will try to accommodate other interested members of the public who contact us.
If you would like to have a chance to meet with Courtney to discuss any land use or water quality issue, contact Phillip Johnson at (503) 754-9303, or email him.
