MILE 198 on 11/2/08   -   BAHNGARTEN LOCATION Lincoln  •  Beachside State Park to Reynolds Creek CONDITIONS Sunday 8:00 AM  •  Rain  •  58° F  •  Wind: Strong from the SW  •  Tide: 3.8 ft HUMANS People: 3  •  Dogs: 2 ACTIVITIES Walking/running: 0 CONCERNS DISTURBANCES VEHICLES Cars/Trucks parking: 1 ACTIV.COMMENTS NOTABLE WILDLIFE approximately 400 gulls--Mostly Westerns, but including 5-6 Heermans and 10 Ringbilled. 150 Sanderlings in tiny to large groups---all at shoreline foraging. DEAD BIRDS Total: 0 STRANDED Total: 0 FISH & INVERTS Unusual concentration 1 dead squid at hight driftline--being fed on by gulls DRIFTLINE A very clean beach in terms of detritus and all debris NEW DEVELOPMENT MODIFICATIONS Sand removal The Oregon State Park System has pushed sand up against its campsite bluff to prevent further erosion. NATURAL CHANGES COMMENTS Am not calling this a problem--no action taken. SUMMARY A rough, windy morning, but a relatively clean, untroubled beach, at least by appeaarances.
