DISPATCH FOR
MILE 171
on 5/28/12 - CHESHIRE
LOCATION
Lane •
Heceta Beach South, almost to North Jetty
CONDITIONS
Monday 6:00 PM
SUMMARY
I frequently walk this beach for exercise, and I don't usually see this much debris. Lots of water bottles, small pieces of foam, large blocks of yellow foam with plywood backing (looks like Japanese home insultation, but could be flood debris) and large white foam floats of a type never seen before on this beach. No conclusive evidence that this is Japanese tsunami debris, but it certainly could be. Whatever is causing this litter, the volume is steadily increasing. Please bring bags when you walk the beach this summer--there is a lot of garbage to pick up.
